ANALYSIS OF SELAHÂTTİN ÇORUH'S PERSPECTIVE ON INTERACTIVE METHODS SUCH AS GAMES AND ACTIVITIES IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
Abstract
Selâhattin Çoruh has contributed to the Turkish education system through his books and research. In this study, Selâhattin Çoruh's book "Arithmetic Teaching" was examined in terms of games, activities, and interactive methods. The study was based on examples of the book written by Selâhattin Çoruh, published at different times. To ensure that there was no loss of data in the content of the book under examination and to check the pages, three books dated 1945 and 1949 were found and their pages were checked. Document analysis was determined as the method for the study. The books were treated as documents, data was collected and analysed in line with the objective. It was concluded that Selâhattin Çoruh emphasised that using the game in mathematics lessons would create examples of real life for students and facilitate transfer to everyday life, and that he recommended the use of the game specifically in mathematics lessons. It was determined that Çoruh frequently used games and interactive methods as a type of reinforcement or for end-of-unit assessment. This book and its contents are recommended to be studied in relevant courses during university education, especially for prospective primary school teachers and mathematics teachers.
